Blog: An interactive website typically a conversation on a topic between multiple people. Most blogs these days are used for niche marketing to make your website “fat” and constantly updated with auto-feed posts.

Article Marketing: A short paragraph or two typically 300-700 words. This is then used to show a you as and expert in a subject, then at the end there is a place called a resource box where you can put your link to your website.

WordPress: The most popular CMS ( Content Management System) on the webs today is WordPress making website creation very simple. Your will install this inside your cpanel hosting and is typically installed with the press of a button in Fantastico or with something like Simple Scripts.

Opt-in: Is typically a box on your website that you use to get peoples name and email address so you can solicit them over and over via email.

Email Marketing: Is the act of placing links in emails to people to products or services, after they have “opted in” your you email list.

JV (Joint Venture): Say you have a product and you ask another internet marketer to email their list. you then give them a cut for those people on their list that buy from you. This is typically the way “JV’s” are used but can also mean you and another person create and sell a product or service together.

Guru: Is someone known as a “top dog” in internet marketing. Usually someone who claims to make a lot of money. Be weary of these self proclaimed guys, I have found they are mostly full of crap just trying to get your money.

Squeeze Page: Is a page typically used to collect a name and email address before allowing them to go to the sales letter. These can also be used as a pre-sell to prime you up for whats about to sell you on the next page.

Landing Page: When driving traffic this is the page they “land” on. Often this phrase is used in reference to CPA marketing sales pages or pre-sell pages

Thank You page: This is the page people end up on after payment and has the link to the content they paid for.

CPA Network: CPA is “Cost Per Action” some call it “Cost Per Acquisition” Most people in the internet marketing business are referring to networks like Neverblue or Max Bounty etc.

Affiliate Network: Is a place like Clickbank or Commission Junction where you can find product to promote and get a % of the sale for providing the traffic leading to a sale.

CPM Buy: CPM stand for Cost Per Million (however is actually means cost per thousand)

Webinar: Is and Online meeting with multiple people using video typically to present a product or service, in internet marketing, they get you on a hr – two hour call where they show you some real content then hit you with a sales pitch at the end. These are becoming all the rage online these days and a great way to sell your products.

WSO: This refers to the Warrior forum. WSO = “Warrior Special Offer” a discounted internet marketing product. However some people make a great living just selling how stuff on there.

Upsell: Lets say you have a product that costs 67 bucks on how to do something, the up-sell would be to offer the customer a higher price product in the same niche after or just before the sale at a discount for buy their first product.

Continuity: This just just means a member ship site typically. Anything with ongoing monthly payments.

Keyword Research: Before building a website or launching a ad campaign it’s important to know what words people are typing in the search engines to find the content you offer. Thus we use a multitude of tools to help us target this people by doing keyword research tools like Google keyword suggestion tool.

Adwords: Adwords is a Google term for search marketing, when people type in a keyword to find something the ads on the right hand side that pop up are “adwords” campaign ads

Adsense: Also a Google program, this is for website owners to place text or image ads on their websites to monetize from the clicks on the ads from their traffic.

PPC (Search network/ Content network): PPC stands for pay-per-click, ppc can be purchased from a ton of different networks such as Google adwords, Yahoo search network or MSN ad center. The content network is image or text ads placed on websites and is more interrupt style marketing, like the Google adsense program.

Link Building: Link building is part of the SEO toolkit wither internal anchor text linking or external back-links, it is the cornerstone for getting you website ranked in the search engines. Having high page ranked links pointing to your website from other places on the web is critical to a websites survival.

Back-links: Links to your website from other websites on the internet.

SEO: Search Engine Optimization – To rank your website organically in the search results there are a number of thing you need to do to help the search engine know your website is the most relevant site for a particular keyword. Backlinking internally and externally website setup including proper coding and keyword rich content all fall under the SEO umbrella.

Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, etc.

Outsourcing: Hiring people to do your work for you. This is my favorite subject! Typically hiring people from places like the Philippines to do various task for you to help you get more do faster. Other options include website like Odesk and elance

PLR/MMR/MR: Private Label Rights, Master Resell Rights. PLR this is a product that you get rights to put your name on as the author and can resell to other people. MRR is a product you can resell but often times have to give credit to the original author.

Split-testing/multivariate testing: Split testing / multivariate testing is when you test different aspects of performance. Lets say you have 2 headline for your website you would run each headline though X amount of traffic and see which one converts better for you. Then you keep testing to beat the control. Classified Ad marketing: Online there are free and paid classified ad services you can post your website/product or service in. USfreeads is one example

Website Flipping: If the name doesn’t say it all just punch yourself. This is buying and selling websites.

eCommerce: Online commerce, typically when people mention ecommerce they are talking about a online store selling products. Like Amazon

Auto-responder: This is when someone opt’s in to your email list and a message is automatically sent to them when they subscribe
